Floor padding provide a smoother surface for a finished floor. Many contractors, homeowners, and builders- use floor padding to provide stability. When you add material to the structure, this is called underlayment. Here is types of underlayment:

* Cementboard

* Plywood

* Fiberboard

* Foam and Cork

* Microlam

We see the beauty, the color, the style of natural wood or a stone floor- because we walk on them. But what we don't see is, the underlayment, which we should realize-make the floor stable. The composition of a floor is structured by: a top layer, a second layer (underlayment), a third layer (subfloor), and a fourth layer (microlam), which supports the previously mentioned flooring.

The underlayment is a plastic foam, that comes in rolls. It rolls between the floor planks. The underlayment and subfloor, are the most important aspect of a floor project. Make sure that you choose the proper selection, for the wear and stability of any floor.

Plywood underlayment is the most complicated- getting the materials to your home or business, the labor and the cutting of the sheets- takes a lot of work.

Underlayment is a foam that comes in a 3-foot wide roll, and it's between 30 to 100 feet long. Always order more than you will need, due to emergencies of tearing, which may occur- during the installation process. White underlayment is the cheapest, but does not work as well as the other colors. Underlayment does two critical things: Takes out the deviations of the subfloor and delivers a remarkable performance of and effective and stabilized floor.

No matter what product you install to your floor, the subfloor must be solid, dry and stable. Installation of an underlayment is an investment- that will last.
